Children's Media Action-Africa (CMA- AFRICA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded to awaken public consciousness to the importance of the media that shapes our children. We advocate for and encourage the creation of original, home-grown media content for African children, grounded in our cultural values and national aspirations. Through collaboration with governments, we aim to influence policies, secure funding and foster partnerships that prioritise the production and distribution of content that truly reflects who we are as a people. At CMA-Africa, we have the conviction that it is far more cost-effective to shield our children from harmful external influences by investing in locally produced, culturally relevant media than to bear the damaging consequences of their unchecked exposure to foreign, unregulated content. Our advocacy efforts are rooted in upholding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the African Charter on Children’s Broadcasting and Goal 12 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting responsible media production and consumption.
To advocate tirelessly for equitable access to culturally relevant, high-quality media content for children of all ages and backgrounds, fostering their holistic development and empowerment through responsible consumption and production practices.
To ensure a future where every African child has equitable access to diverse, high-quality media content, nurturing their holistic development and fostering cultural pride.
